Designer Profile:

Mary Tillery, a senior interior designer with forty years experience in residential and commercial design. Tillery has knowledge of various styles of design and specializes in transitional design and historic period interiors.

As Head of the Interior Design Department at Halifax Community College for 28 years she trained most of the interior designers in North Eastern North Carolina and was honed in all phases of design. Her specialties include space planning, extensive textile knowledge, and coordination of appropriate furnishings style.

As creative designers, we interpret and blend various needs and personalities for our clients to create refined comfortable and special environments for busy people. We specialize in transitional furnishings, antiques, and window treatments.

Restoration Specialist for period interiors, period window treatment fabrication, and period antiques.

Space Planning, Furniture Arrangement, and Floor plan Design with Pre-construction designs working with your architect and builder on the interior design/architectural phase to the blue print stage.

Providing specifications, purchasing, and installation of furnishings, lighting, fabrics, wall covering, window treatments and accessories.

Project Boards: with floor plans, furniture arrangements, idea boards to preview concepts.

Awards & Publications

Served as head of interior design department and lead instructor at Halifax Community College for over 28 years.

Designer and owner in the restoration of Glen Burnie or The Hermitage built in 1793 while her husband Charles served as the general contractor in the authentic restoration of the Federal triparte designed facade.

Served on the executive accreditation team for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools evaluating the interior design and graphic design departments of Art Institute of Atlanta, Art Institute of Dallas, and Palm Beach College, Florida.

Conducted decorative arts educational tours to Colonial Williamsburg, VA, Tryons Palace in New Bern, NC, Mount Vernon in Mount Vernon, VA, and White House, Washington, DC.
